Congratulations to Tommy Anderson.

Mr. Anderson was elected as the GA AAU Boys Basketball District Sport Director on May 23, 2010. 19 clubs attended the bi-annual meeting of the GA AAU District. With over 200 AAU Boys Basketball clubs it was surprising that more clubs did not attend. Originally six individuals were nominated for the position as District Sport Director. Due to withdrawals, when the election occurred three names were on the ballot. Following the rules of the AAU for running elections each candidate was given three minutes to speak. After the first round of voting, the vote count was 7-7-5. According to the AAU Code a candidate must receive 51% of the vote to win or the candidate with the lowest vote count is removed and the vote continues with the remaining candidates. In the final vote the count was 10 - 9, the winner being Mr. Anderson. I look forward to assisting Mr. Anderson in any way possible to help grow and insure the best Basketball experience possible.

$500 scholarships to be awarded each year to four high school graduates to be used for higher education.

Coaches, let us know about your outstanding graduating seniors so that Georgia AAU can honor them for their achievements. These first annual Scholarship Awards will be awarded at the Georgia AAU Annual Meeting on 5/20/2011.
